Island Paddleboard will have you out on the calm waters of Newport Bay on a super stable, great board in no time!
Our shop is on Balboa Island, inside of Newport Harbor. This means we are surrounded by calm, flat, protected water. The calmer the water, the easier it is to paddle! We are very close to the protected sanctuary of the North Bay Front of Balboa Island. The beach and water in that location are on the lee side of Balboa Island which means that it is protected from wind, waves, and boat traffic. It is an ideal spot for learning to paddle or for having a relaxed paddle.
We rent Surftech Stand Up Paddleboards. Our boards are extra large and really stable. Our rental boards are 11 feet 6 inches long, 32 inches wide, and just over 5 inches thick! What this means is they float really well and are super easy to balance on! We feature paddles from QuickBlade. The paddles are light weight and ultra strong. Our rental paddles adjust to fit anyone!

Our boards are great for families too! A family of four can rent two boards. Mom and dad can each paddle a board and the little one’s can sit on the front!

The Persimmon Tree has been serving beach people with amazing customer service from the same location on Balboa Island since 1960! Our roots in beach culture had us stand up paddle boarding early on, and we were the first business in the area to rent paddle boards.
To get to us from the Balboa Peninsula it’s 2 minutes across the ferry. We are a 5 minute drive from Corona Del Mar and Newport Coast is 7 minutes. We are 10-15 minutes from Laguna Beach, 20 minutes from Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Huntington Beach.
